Privacy policy.

Oryx Tools is built so that there is very little to write here. Your files are processed on your own device and never reach a server.

Your files never leave your device

Every tool runs inside your browser using a Web Worker. Reading, converting and writing all happen locally on the machine you are using.

  • No file you open is uploaded, transmitted or copied anywhere.
  • Nothing is stored on a server, so there is no retention period and nothing to delete.
  • Closing the tab discards everything. There is no history and no recovery.

What is collected

Two things, and neither is tied to who you are:

  • A counter of how many times each tool has been used, stored as a single shared number. It records that a conversion happened, not who did it.
  • Your theme choice (light or dark), kept in your own browser's local storage. It never leaves your device.
  • Your language, which is part of the page address rather than anything stored about you.

What is not collected

  • No accounts and no sign-ups. The only personal details the site ever sees are the ones you type into the contact form yourself.
  • No device fingerprints and no location data. Your IP address is never stored; it is used only in memory, and only to limit contact form abuse.
  • No advertising network is currently running.
  • No file names, file contents or anything derived from what you convert.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics to see which tools people actually use, so that time goes into the ones that matter and broken pages get noticed. It is the ordinary Google Analytics tag, and it works the same way here as on any other site:

  • It records which pages were opened, roughly where in the world the visit came from, and general details about the browser and device. Google derives the approximate location from your IP address; the address itself is not something I can see or store.
  • It sets cookies in your browser so repeat visits are not counted as new people.
  • It never sees anything you convert. Your files are processed inside your browser and are never sent anywhere, so there is nothing about them for analytics to collect — no file names, no contents, no sizes.
  • If you would rather not be counted, any content blocker stops it, and Google publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics everywhere.

The contact form

The contact page is the one place on this site where you give information about yourself, and only because you chose to write to me:

  • The name, email address and message you enter are sent to my mailbox by email, so I can read the report and reply to it. They are not written to any database.
  • Your email address is used to answer you and nothing else. It is never added to a mailing list, sold or shared.
  • Messages stay in my mailbox as ordinary email. If you would like yours deleted, ask and it will be.
  • Submissions are checked by Google reCAPTCHA to keep out automated spam. That check sends your IP address and some browser information to Google, under Google's own privacy policy.

Third parties

The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google to fetch them, and Google Analytics as described above. The contact page additionally loads Google reCAPTCHA, which runs only on that page. If you use the support page, the payment provider you pick (for example Ko-fi) handles the transaction on its own site under its own privacy policy; this site contains no payment code and never sees your card details. Should advertising ever be added, this page will be updated before it goes live, not after.

Your rights

Outside the contact form there is no personal data of yours that I hold and could hand back, export or erase. If you have written to me and want that message and your address removed, say so and it will be deleted. Analytics can be switched off from your side at any time using a blocker or Google's opt-out add-on. If you would like the theme preference removed, clearing site data in your browser settings does it immediately.

Changes to this policy

If how the site handles data changes, this page and the date above will change with it. The policy describes what the site does today, not what it might do later.
